The Puzzle: In Person (with Liane Hansen, Will Shortz, Stacy Keach, and Susan Stamberg)

This is Liane Hansen’s 20th year as the host of NPR’s Weekend Edition Sunday. To celebrate the occasion, we taped this week’s puzzle segment in front of a live audience.

Loved hearing this - this morning and now seeing it, makes it even sweeter ;)

Portions of this give me ieas of a nice way to start my meetings and my own videos..

Happy Anniversary, Leigh Ann, (hope I got the spelling correct.)

What a treat to see the faces behind those familiar voices. No money wasted on Miss Clarol for those folks!

Reason man are better than women

I believe all women suffer from a mild and extremely localized form of Tourette Syndrome. The afflicted organ? Their tongues. Thats why women cannot shut their fucking mouths for ten seconds while adults are speaking around them. Their tongues are battling around in their mouths like drunken Vipers.

please support my Michael Jackson tribute song I made after watching this
R I P Michael Jackson
Peace…

Check out MY crappy video. LOL

Its great, hearing these voices for years, and finally seeing the faces behind them. It seems like I create images of what they look like in my head, and its always surprising when I actually see them.

NPR is awesome.

My family growing up used to send cassette recordings of narration and spoken letters to each other back in the day, and hearing the NPR voices each week for the news is like getting a new letter from them again, or rediscovering an old recorded letter from a long-passed relative. It’s great every time, even when the news is sour ^_^

Liane, CONGRATULATIONS on 20 wonderful years! I’ve been listening since WESunday started and have the highest respect for the consistently exceptional work you and the whole staff at NPR do every day, week after week, year after year. You have given us a 2nd golden age or radio!

I actually cried a little when I heard this segment on the show. I have been listening for at least 11 years and when I heard that this one was filmed I couldn’t wait to watch. Very cool! Congrats on 20 awesome years!

This video was such a treat! I listen to NPR Sunday Puzzle on my ipod while exercising outside. Sometimes blurting out the answers to the amazement to anyone else within earshot. My family and the Shortzs were neighbors in central Indiana back in the 1950’s. The entire Shortz family is brilliant. Hey Will join me for a scrabble game on the Internet Scrabble Club, I play several hours a day. I’m Catspjs and I’ve logged over 30,000 games in 5 years.

Will overlooked a couple of alternative answers in the initial Q&A…
Golf and poker: the answer could also be clubs
Bridge and baseball: the answer could also be rubber
