Super Puzzle World 3 v1.6 TAS (Part 2)
Because I remembered this time: Frames: 71063 Re-record Count: 27751 I guess I’ll try commenting on the TAS level-by-level, like most TASers do. Little thing to note before though: I might submit the run to tasvideos if this game meets the site’s quality and popularity standards. So would anyone know whether I’m being stupid in the idea because it’s not professional or popular enough? It‘d be nice to know. Anyway, on to my comments: Fake!: Couldn’t fit it under 20 seconds :( Other than that disappointment, I guess I could have done some actual entertainment while waiting for the mushroom. Now if only I didn’t suck at entertainment. Important Coins: I like my skip :) It might have been faster to do 6/5 on the way toward the P-switch and Yoshi, but I didn’t think of it, and honestly I didn’t want to re-do it. I hate coin-snakes :( I cannot figure out which frames I can move without changing the direction and which frames I can’t without resorting to trial-and-error. I ran out of patience for that, so you‘ll see I end up sitting around for a while as a result. Really unhappy with that. It is a Cave!: Thanks go out to LeChuck (yes, him, of all people) for pointing out the possibility of using screen-scrolling to duplicate the koopa. I had thought there wasn’t enough space to do it expediently, but it turns out there was. Everything else is pretty self-explanatory. House of Time: Wow this level’s annoying. Going up the staircase quickly gets annoying after the fifth time. Also …

@SoulJester726 It’s not easy to swim through slopes without an item, even with frame advance. You have to hit the slope while moving upward, and can only be done on every 16-pixel “block” boundary of the slope. This is extremely hard, have you ever tried? Most TASers can’t even go through a normal slope on land. I have tried over and over, but swimming without an item is the only one I can’t do.
If you want to submit to TASvideos, the best thing you could do is discuss it in the forums whether this hack is good enough to TAS for publication. Imo it seems like a good hack and this looks like a great TAS, but it never hurts to be on the safe side.
@bullethead2202 yes, i have tried, and succeeded, i was talking to lechuck earlier who is helping dainegai with this tas, and he asked about this glitch, i hadnt known it was possible without an item but dianegai had told lechuck it was. so later i went and tested it. it was a bit harder then wall jumping, but not by much. only took me like 25ish minutes to pull off.

@bullethead2202 meh, im weired like that… like there are somethings i just can’t do, and others that i can do really quickly…like wall jumps! now that i learned how to do them i can do them very easily, but i cant do like the goomba and in air shell jump from item abuse. (hint: watch my item abuse tas preview)
The It is a Cave music really brought back some memories.
@bullethead2202 If one was to just sit there and try for a while, you could probably end up doing it in real time, as I did to see if it was possible in the first place. The only real hard part is doing it reliably, which I fail to do, unfortunately. That’s why that part isn’t as optimized as it could be.

@snowyarticuno It really does vary, depending on if I’ve planned any route yet, what I have to do, if I’m in the mood to spend a while repeating the same thing, etc. To put things in perspective, I ended up doing a good half of the House of Time, and the two levels afterward today because I felt like doing them, and it took ~5 1/2 hours to do those levels.
I absolutely loved the cave part.
